Affiliates Heighton, Waiser & Murphy among this year’s #GGBooks winners

Three Access Copyright affiliates woke up to great news on October 25: they had each won a Governor General’s Literary Award.

Kingston, Ont.-based poet and author Steven Heighton takes the Poetry prize for The Waking Comes Late (House of Anansi Press) and Saskatoon historian Bill Waiser is this year`s History recipient for A World We Have Lost: Saskatchewan Before 1905 (Fifth House Publishers). Colleen Murphy is a second time recipient with her win in the Drama category for Pig Girl (Playwrights Canada Press).

Publisher affiliates with winning titles include the aforementioned House of Anansi Press and Playwrights Canada Press as well as Fifth House Publishers, Penguin Random House Canada, Groundwood Books and Biblioasis.

Winners will receive their award from Gov. Gen. David Johnston in a ceremony at Rideau Hall on November 30.
