Payback for Writers and Payback for Visual Artists

Access Copyright will begin its distribution of this year’s Payback payment to our creator affiliates on October 9.

All creators affiliated with Access Copyright as of December 31, 2024 are eligible for this year's payment.

If you receive royalties from us by direct deposit, please allow up to two business days after October 9 for your payment to appear in your bank account.

If you receive royalties from us by cheque, it will be mailed out to you on October 9 if the current labour disruption involving Canada Post workers is resolved and mail delivery resumes by then. If it has not been resolved by October 9, we will mail your cheque out to you as soon as the labour disruption ends and mail delivery resumes. We regret any delay there may be in getting your payment to you.

This year’s payment includes a base portion of $64.80 and a supplementary portion if you have made a Payback claim in the past based on the type and amount of work you have reported.

How to access your distribution report

Your distribution report, which details this year’s Payback payment to you, will be available in your online portal account as of October 9. To review the report, please visit the creator portal and log in with your username and password.

How to access your report starting October 9: After logging into the portal, you’ll see your distribution letter and report on the left side of your screen. 

For Safari users: you will need to perform one extra step to access your distribution report starting October 9. After downloading it, you will notice it will appear as a text file. Please find the report file in your Download folder and remove the ".txt" of the file name in order to access your PDF copy of your report.
