Access Copyright distributes non-title specific royalties 50/50 to publishers and creators where it is impossible or impractical to collect information on actual works copied. Royalties are distributed to writers and visual artists through our PaybackTM program.
Each year, all eligible creator affiliates receive a share of PaybackTM payments depending on how much they contributed to the number of works licensed by Access Copyright.
The PaybackTM formula is calculated in two steps.
Step One - 40% of the PaybackTM pool is distributed equally amongst all creators.
Step Two - 60% of the PaybackTM pool is distributed to writers and visual artists depending on what they published and how much they published. The more you publish, the greater your PaybackTM payment.
To be eligible for a full PaybackTM payment, you must have been affiliated for at least a full year. For example, to be eligible for the 2010 PaybackTM payment, you must have been an affiliate of Access Copyright as of December 31, 2008. Additionally, you must complete the annual reporting form.
