Access Copyright Interim Post-Secondary Educational Institution Tariff, 2011-2013 (April 7, 2011)
Professors, students and administrators in post-secondary institutions across Canada all rely on being able to quickly and easily reproduce copyright protected content.
The Access Copyright Interim Post-Secondary Educational Institutions Tariff, 2011-2013 is a simple and cost-effective way to use copyright protected materials and provides clarity and peace of mind about what can be copied at post-secondary educational institutions.
The Interim Tariff provides pre-authorized clearance to use millions of works to create customized paper coursepack material, make day-to-day paper copies, prepare handouts for class and place material on reserve in the library for students to photocopy, and provides an option to use content digitally.
Without the Interim Tariff, obtaining permission to copy from the copyright holder each and every time would quickly become time consuming and impractical.
The Interim Tariff will be replaced by a certified tariff once it is certified by the Copyright Board of Canada.
Access Copyright has filed tariffs with the Copyright Board of Canada to cover copying in post-secondary educational institutions from 2011 to 2013 and 2014 to 2017. These tariffs ensure that the process of establishing the royalties to be paid for the use of copyright protected materials in post-secondary educational institutions proceeds without interruption. A hearing on the 2011-2013 Tariff is scheduled to begin before the Copyright Board on February 11, 2014.
